Albright Plus Curriculum Overview

Curriculum Intent

“Developing the right pathway for each individual child, enabling them to flourish and succeed.”

The curriculum at Albright Plus has been developed to ensure all pupils have the opportunity to gain essential skills and knowledge that they need to prepare them for their future success. Albright Plus understands that a pupil’s future can take a path in many different ways from transitioning back to their mainstream; moving to another mainstream school; or to an alternative provision. Therefore, it is vital that the curriculum offers all pupils the ability to develop skills and knowledge that will allow them to succeed in their individual path. Pupils are split into three mixed-age classes depending on their individual needs. All pupils have the opportunity to access a broad and balanced curriculum whist achieving the highest expectations set for them.

Subjects: English, Maths, Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds, Healthy World and Healthy Relationships.

Integrated into the timetable are opportunities for therapeutic services and child-led activities.

Assessment / Monitoring Progress

Pupils’ progress is continually monitored using attendance reports, academic engagement and SEMH data so that they can be supported most effectively.

Equality / Diversity

From the information gained during induction meetings it is decided how to best support pupils so they can access the curriculum effectively and have coping mechanisms that enable them to self-regulate their own behaviours. Within the Albright Plus curriculum, we promote the core SEMH values of resilience, respect, motivation, community and curiosity.

On the 9th March, we opened our own art gallery. This term, pupils are working on projects inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy. Our original classroom space has been transformed into an area for pupils to share their creativity learn to experience the natural world through sculpture and pattern.
