Albright Post 16 Curriculum Overview

Curriculum Intent

“Developing the right pathway for each individual child, enabling them to flourish and succeed.”

The curriculum at Albright Post 16 has been developed to ensure all pupils have the opportunity to gain both academic qualifications and vital employment skills in order for the pupils to successfully transition into further education or employment.

Post 16 main curriculum is vocational lead where pupils have the opportunity to achieve a Health and Social Care qualification and / or Hospitality qualification. Along with the vocational pathway pupil can resit GCSE English and / or Maths and achieve essential work skills including First Aid, Health and Safety, Care Certificate and Food Safety. Bristish Sign Language is also on offer to pupils within Post 16 where they can gain Level 1 certificate in British Sign Language.

Albright Post 16 understands that a pupil’s previous education experience can be varied and they may need an extra year to develop skills and confidence ready for their next steps. A pupils next steps can take a path in many different ways from transitioning to college; apprenticeships; or employment and therefore, it is vital that the curriculum offers all pupils the ability to develop skills and knowledge that will allow them to succeed.

All pupils have the opportunity to access Social Emotional and Mental Health Support through group mentoring and PSHE lessons

Assessment / Monitoring Progress

Pupils’ progress is continually monitored using attendance reports, academic engagement and SEMH data so that they can be supported most effectively.
